On 19 July 2019, AIMMP held the first national seminar (as part of the Good Wood Project) on the theme “The importance of knowledge acquisition by other means to improve competitiveness,  and market trends”.
This event was attended by over 40 participants representing:

  • Timber industry companies
  • Furniture design industry companies
  • Employers organizations
  • Workers organizations
  • Vocational Training Centers
  • Other representatives


The official presentation of the seminar was made by Dr. Victor Poças, AIMMP's president, reinforcing the role that social dialogue should play in promoting the competitiveness of companies, as well as the importance of adjusting production to consumer trends.

Then, Prof. Dr. António Cruz Rodrigues spoke about consumer trends, and the importance of developing an industry that can respond effectively to new challenges. Dr. Pedro Trindade then introduced the Good Wood project, highlighting the good practices that should be followed and are currently being discussed by the partners involved in the project. The role of social dialogue as a way of enhancing the development of human resources in the wood industry was also mentioned.
 
In the afternoon, a workshop on Market Observatory and consumer trends was held by Prof. Cruz Rodrigues and Arq. João Coutinho, highlighting the main trends at European level, considering a more green economy and how to respond to the demands of a circular economy. It was delivered to all participants the information leaflet of the Good wood project, and some materials on social dialogue and training actions.
